Math PhD Update: How I write math talks as a grad student

Between exams and classes this semester I get to prep a math talk that will be happening soon. So today I thought I'd go ahead and reflect on writing a math talk as a grad student and how I write math talks as a grad student (at this point). This grad student math talk is going to be about complexity of 2 dimensional symbolic dynamical systems, so their will be a video version of the talk going up at some point after I give it in mid March. I've gotten a lot of practice with presenting math and writing math presentations here so hopefully that will transfer over 😅.

The video can be broken up into the following chapters.
00:00 Intro
00:40 How I got a math talk
02:06 Math talk format and math talk plans
03:01 How I write math talks as a grad student
08:49 How my math PhD process is going

Being a grad student during zoom school seems absolutely dreadful, hope you're making it through

Would you consider showing us your study process please?

In particular the two following;

(1.) Organisation. Maybe also how you choose which materials to use as resources
(I assume you mostly use books but I presume even at high levels there is abundant literature to be in a quandary about which one to use)

(2.) the process you undergo or methods you use to make sure you retain the information long term?

I know it’s a silly question but it is always most insightful to observe the processes that work for others. Even just mentioning a bit of that in one of your videos would be most gracious!

Thank you

P.S; I really enjoy your edits and thanks for giving this Channel your time

Hey! Cool update! Also, thanks for being one of the YouTubers that convinced me through your content that I want to go into pure mathematics and NOT physics! :)
