The FFXIV player is a fascinating creature, for it wishes to socialize, yet seems to struggle to function properly if in company of, or even thinking about being in company of a group larger than a dungeon party for a prolonged period of time.

My wife and I went through the same ordeal. We tried a few that were okay for a while, but they either got too clique-ish or died off. So our personal solution was just to make one that's primarily for soloers and we put the expectations upfront in the description, "If you want to hang out cool, if you want to do your own thing, that's cool too."

I’m a massive introvert but I’ve learnt to accept I just like low-key FC’s. We don’t need to have events every week, we don’t always have to have full blown conversations, we don’t always need to talk on discord.

Create your own and fill it with Buns, but delegate the leader role to someone else... reign over the cult of Zepla as queen and let your designated chancellor do the leader work. Solves all your problems.

My most common experience with FC’s is a very laissez-faire or completely absent leader with one or two power trippy officers. It almost always happens 😂

As a shy and over observant person i totally understand this dilemma and there should be no shame feeling this way. There's nothing wrong for having hope in finding the right place where you can be comfortable and happy. Keep at it Zep because the issue right now will be worthwhile when you eventually find what you're looking for.

I struggle to find FCs as well. I had one I was really happy with but changed servers to play with some friends who have since stopped playing. I hope you find a good home, Zepla and I also hope you stay very safe.

Thankfully, I found one where most are parents. It's the best level of maturity and goofiness. Gamer parents are the best.

In my eyes there 3 different kinds of FC's.
- Old inactive, close tight knit FC's. These are filled by a handful of veterans. It will feel dead for newer players. Most of the time these are closed to apply to though.
- Old active FC's, that like to have fresh blood. Generally because these veterans like to help out new players or have them join their events.
- Active new FC's. These can be all different kinds. But in general it's a lot of new players that are looking for friends to play with. These are probably the most active, but not necessarily in endgame. Leadership and structure tends to be very mixed.

I think old active FC's are best to join. These veterans will welcome you with open arms, take you along their ride and show you the ropes.
New FC's might fall apart when officers and leaders become a bit inactive. Older FC's already went through this stage and it's settled down. Who does what, etc.

And to you Zep: I'd just make your own and deligate leadership to someone you trust. Let it all work out from there. Don't overthink it. Joining one as a famours streamer will come with all kinds of things to think about.

Telling you from experience, Solo FCs are the best way to go. You can use any company actions whenever YOU need it

Currently in one of the fcs that has 50+ people and no one speaks to each other. I’ve been hopping and sadly I find it harder to find meaningful friendships these days.

The best encouragement i can give is, don't let the possibility of failure stop you from finding some happiness. In my experience with FFXIV, i found it far more enjoyable once i had friends to play it with rather then just being on my own. For all the bad out there, there's also plenty of people who i'm sure would love to befriend you and let you just be one of the buns. Either way i hope you find some folk.

For finding guilds and stuff in WoW, I tend to go with the holistic approach.
When one crosses my path and resonates with me, I'll join it. It won't work out very well to go out looking for one.

While I can't speak for all closely tied FC's, the ones that are small and close are usually the best in my opinion for happiness and enjoyment. I joined one myself and when I first went in I just didn't think about all this and that. People really need to calm down and stop thinking too much. Believe in the way of the dumb people! No thinky, no problem!

These guys are my family now and I would do anything for them.
