Anthony Perkins was an absolute powerhouse in this role. I really hadn't seen him in what you would view as a flop. The only thing that had had followed this role was that he was typecasted for the reminder of his career

Norman had two personalities. One is himself. And the other is, of his mother. The problem. His mother wasn’t just plain evil . It was Norman’s own twisted perception of who he thinks is the evil one. The other problem, his mom was dead, but Norman refused to allow his mother to be buried naturally since he wanted to play the role of his mother as a mind controlling manipulative entity.
