Puzzled Trump Shows Just How Clueless He Is On Overturning Roe v. Wade

With the incoming retirement of Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, Donald Trump is chomping at the bits to install the worst person imagineable to replace him. But in a recent interview, he once again proved that he shouldn't be the person with such power. Sam Seder and the Majority Report crew discuss this.

---Anyone promising that Roe v. Wade will be overturned by President Trump's next Supreme Court justice is engaging in guesswork — and, in many cases, political advocacy. Abortion rights supporters are understandably concerned about nullifying one of the court's most prominent and passion-inducing precedents, yes, but we don't even have a nominee yet. This also happens to be a great way to rally the troops.

All of that said, they have clear — and increasing — reason for concern.

In an interview with Fox airing Sunday and Monday, Trump doubled down on his past rhetoric about sending the issue of abortion to the states, which is another way of saying overturning Roe. (Roe legalized abortion nationwide, meaning its repeal would allow states to decide the issue.) Trump said he would “probably not” ask potential nominees directly about Roe — given that such litmus tests are frowned upon — but then he reiterated his past view of how this issue would play out.---

How many ways are there to end that sentence?!

When he says he wants to help the less fortunate it's a lie, when he says he wants to punish the less fortunate it's the truth.

Not even kidding... I wouldn't even trust trump to watch my dog for a day. I mean that literally. He should be in a home under supervision. He's not all there.

You have to pay close attention to what he says and how he says it. He doesn't say anything, and he carefully makes a bend around the subject at hand. We've seen this before, even several times, haven't we? It's a strong indication that he isn't only clueless on how to overturn Roe v. Wade, but ALSO ABOUT ROE V. WADE ITSELF. I'm pretty sure he doesn't know what it is about, except that he's been told to get rid of it.

A quote from the Guardian today: "Look around and there is already a kind of desensitisation to what is happening, a moral relativism that never sees women’s rights as the first rights that are under attack. Up the road from me is an ultra-Orthodox Jewish Haredi school, which has been found inadequate by Ofsted because it censors books, won’t teach girls sex education and won’t mention homosexuality. This is the way all fundamentalism – Christian, Jewish, Islamic – merges: in denial of female autonomy. (...) The sun is shining and some women have never have had it so good – so maybe you don’t want to think about all of this right now. I don’t blame you. But maybe you should. While you still can."

Let us all look into the mirror and honestly ask ourselves: Did we show false tolerance to the wrong people (meaning Christian fundamentalism)? Did we throw women and gays and their rights under the bus for THEM?

*"Well, they've been fighting for a long time, Roe got some good ones in there, but I think Wade is gonna take it"*

Donald Trump is always the last person to know about the policy decisions made by the Donald Trump White House.

Trump saying that he’s been told by everyone NOT to do something pretty much guarantees that he’s going to do it. Although in this case it’s not actually necessary because every one on his list of potential justices approved by the Federalist Society has already been vetted to ensure they’ll vote to abolish Roe v Wade if given the opportunity.

So grateful to live in California. A humanitarian state. I feel so bad for any poor people who live in red states. I can barely afford rent and food, but I am grateful to know my rights and my daughter's rights will be protected. Although I want you all to move to progressive states that align with your values and protect you, I also know that I am being a coward. We need progressives in these red states to turn things around. Run for office, protest, and vote. Those are some of the bravest and most righteous people in this country: true patriots

the only reason people are talking about roe v. wade lately is because the bloatus has made it an issue again.

Put Trump and a rat in one of those mazes where you have to find your way to the food button and push it. Rats can do it. Trump would starve.

He has brain damage. "His opinions are, you know, so well written, soooo brilliant. Auhhh and I'm gonna try and do something, I like that. But I don't think I'm going to be so specific in the questions I'll be answering. And I'm actually being told I shouldn't be."

Yep, it's possible and probable, I went to get an abortion in Michigan in 1972 as it was not legal in Ohio yet.
