Always feel like making your own terrain for Warcry is really good because there are so many tutorials for Mordheim style terrain which works really well for Warcry. They're also very cheap & easy.

I would really recommend HDF terrain by e-Raptor. Ruins set is clearly inspired by first Warcry starter and is really cheap in comparison.

This question comes up sooo often in the subreddit…

If Warcry ever dies, this is the reason to point to.

Let’s hope for a Warcry starter set akin to the new Kill Team starter set, available throughout the edition.

I really hope there’s a new starter box later this year. The Ghur terrain wasn’t my thing but I love the first season stuff so much.

Archon Studios Rampart Terrain systems and sets are top quality for competitive price. The Eternal Cathedral set is close to the 1.0 starter set terrain and the Kazumi Temple can easily stand in for Heart of Ghur terrain. They are also all modular, and can be put together in hundreds of different ways using a lego-esque system of connecting joints (you can even magnetize them for even quicker and easier set up). IMO they are the best value for quality, quantity, and flexibility.

You can also always make your own for VERY cheap. Just takes some time and dedication

I think this video is spot on. No good base set will kill this game in the long run. Ive been wanting to start warcry for a long time, but im not paying ebay prices for heart of ghur.

As a new player having started maybe two months now, your website wound up helping the most with direction on where to find the information you need to find.

In regards to terrain, the Chaos Citadel by Dark Fantastic Mills is an amazing set for warcry. They designed it with warcry in mind and just released a warcry set with cards. Their modular approach allows for tons of customization. There is a regular set, ruined set and nurgle set. No supports, so super beginner friendly. $70 for their kickstarter was the best money I've spent hobby wise. If you don't have a 3d printer they do sell sets, but they can be pretty expensive.

A tip for GW terrain is to look att Middle Earth! Gondor Ruins and possibly Dol Goldur. Granted the old Gondor ruins where even better with fewer closed walls.
And you can buy Goblin Town and cut up for plenty of walkways!

One thing that's held me back from starting several new warbands is the likelihood that a 3rd Edition would go the route of Killteam and remove a lot of options particularly generic factions.

I'm Warcry curious, but the lack of any proper starter box definitely holds me back. I'll wait for six months to see if a new starter box / edition pops up then.

If Crypt of Blood would also come with that new Soulblight faction terrain it'd be pretty good. But honestly the lack of a good starter box, the horrible layout of the official online shop and the lack of featuring are really way bigger problems for the game than any balancing issues.

I love Warcry and have done since the first starter set. I have pretty much every faction. I really like your content along with toast and the salty sea, but the broader lack of content and online engagement with Warcry is a shame…. It’s good to see tournaments running well but I can’t help but think the game is on the ropes.

I ended up buying a bunch of clearance Warcry boxes at LV open. Not sure why people weren't picking them up, everyone was buying up Kill Team instead.

If you can find it, the warrior starter set from the older edition of AOS is a good and cheap starting point. Add in xandire's truthseekers and da kunnin krew from underworlds and you've got an interesting roster and set of abilities!

Lastest Warcry updated by gamesworkshop was September 2024. I hope there will be new Warcry update and release soon.

i start this winter to play warcry with my bros. Me on my kruleboyz and my brother with his old full metal dwarf from 2000 converted into AOS dwarf. when i bought my orks its was just for painting and i think they re cool. Since then i bought questor and my bro Riverblades. I think bespoke warcry boxes are the best to start. For terrain just DIY some and play some Poorman Warcry with beer can and cereal box :P

Not only all that but you have to contend with people proclaiming the new edition supposedly coming out this year, other detractors (from within the active community, even!) telling players to avoid warbands that have left the product range, etc. It's a complete mess.

why cant GW make a nice warcry app to use. Feels like most fast and accessible tings are on mobile in apps. And making a nice start box with all you need feels like some ting warcry needs. I did love the first warcry box release =D

Treating the bespoke boxes as a starter set is excellent advice. I jumped into Warcry with a one-box bespoke, expecting it would be enough, and felt a bit let down when I walked into my FLGS and realized that's not how the game is played. I think this makes Warcry more difficult to get into than Killteam.
