DISASTER ARTIST LYRICS

IT’S NOT YOU IT’S ME
THAT’S NOT TRUE IT’S WE
UNDERACHIEVED A DREAM
CUE THE HORN
SOUND THE REVELIE

I GET THE JOKE
THAT’S WHAT HURTS THE MOST
IT’S JUST TO AMUSE THE GHOSTS
SO WE LET IT BREATHE
UP UNTIL WE CHOKE

THERE’S ALWAYS A UNIQUE WAY
TO FIRE UP THE FAIL SAFE
TO KEEP ME IN A SAFE PLACE

WHO’S THE DISASTER ARTIST
WHO, WHO
WHO PAINTED ALL THE DARKNESS
OVER YOU , OVER YOU
(X2)

IT’S NOT BLACK AND WHITE
GRAYING OUT THE NIGHT
WHEN YOU SHOOT THE MOON, YOU MIGHT
JUST HIT IT WRONG
AND ONLY DIM THE LIGHT

I SCALE THE WALL
WHEN I HEAR THE CALL
FROM THE OTHER SIDE, TO FALL
MAYBE I PREFER THE RITUAL

I DON’T KNOW WHAT I JUMP FOR
I ONLY PULL THE RIPCORD
WHEN I SEE THE SAFE SHORE

WHO’S THE DISASTER ARTIST
WHO, WHO
WHO PAINTED ALL THE DARKNESS
OVER YOU , OVER YOU
(X2)

I KILL EM LIKE I SEE EM
I DON’T SEE EM SO WELL
FIGHTING FOR MY VISION
BUT I’M BLINDING MYSELF

FRIGHTENED BY THE CANVAS
BUT I PAINT ANYWAY
THE AUTHOR OF MY FAILURE
IS IT THEM OR IT’S, THEM OR IT’S ME

WHO’S THE DISASTER ARTIST
WHO, WHO
WHO PAINTED ALL THE DARKNESS
OVER YOU , OVER YOU
(X2)

Here are some behind the scenes moments while filming the "Disaster Artist": video. Click on the timestamps which will take you to the spot in the video mentioned. Enjoy!
0:28 We had no music playing when we shot this, so I had to sing the words in perfect time in silence. It was easier than I’d thought.
0:40 This was filmed in the exact same room as my performance scenes in the “Candle” video. It’s amazing what difference lighting makes.
0:55 We only did one take of this kiss, so I was really surprised it made it into the video. (Usually doing only one take means whatever we were trying didn’t work or didn’t look right, so we scrapped it.)
1:01 The hula hoops definitely went flying off Kim’s arms a couple times. It’s dangerous stuff, shooting a video!
1:11 I was supposed to wear a different shirt in this performance segment, but we left it at home. Luckily I’d worn this magenta t-shirt to set that morning and it worked perfectly.
1:16 What you can’t see is that Kelly and Laura are dancing around me on pointe. They’re both pretty incredible dancers who quite literally danced until their feet were fried (we’re talking hours). I am so lucky to work with such professional, beautiful humans.
1:35 This may be my favorite part of the video. I love the musicality of the edit. Also, the girls are bringing it.
1:38 Notice the very specific placement of the ladders in the background.
1:42 This was the last shot of the day on our second to last day of filming and it was definitely the longest, most trying day of the entire shoot. I had no idea what I was going to be doing but it was amazing to be able to express all of my emotions in this moment. (Also I could hear my mom in my head telling me not to pull on my face because it causes wrinkles. Ha!)
1:48 We shot the water sequence in the bathtub of my AirBnB at 5 AM. It was easier than expected to clean up (I would know, ha!)
2:01 It was quite challenging to get entire face under water and stay there. (Bathtubs are small!)
2:05 I have no idea when they did this with the paint.
2:47 I love the bridge of this song. Virginia (the director) told me I was allowed to go crazy during the performance portion. I was into that direction.
3:02 There is a painting or picture of a girl with balloons that was the inspiration for the look and vibe of the entire video. I kept getting tangled in the balloons (surprise, surprise)
3:08 Getting the timing of the walking away and turning around was the most challenging part of the video for me. I still have trouble walking in a straight line!
3:32 I love the timing of my hair flip going into the removal of the veil. I LOVE the black veil and I LOVED ripping it out!
3:40 I don’t know where we got this bike; I think we might’ve found it in the studio we were shooting at, but I’m not 100 percent sure. Either way it’s super creepy and I love it.
3:59 I love how the video ends. I’m not sure what that says about me as a person, but it's the truth!
