I used to refer to myself as Arminian until I got clarity on what an Arminian is. Definitely a Provisionist.

Lol great video sir. When asked I go to the scriptures and say "I beleive that...thats who I am".

All these "labels" are man-made and any person who subscribes to those labels will then base their understanding of scripture in that box. We need to destroy those boxes and stand on what scripture says NOT what it teaches but what it says. Its a hard lesson I had to learn when I resigned with the AG as a licensed minister. God looks at the heart and thats good enough 4 me..lol. blessings to you all...again great video

I’m glad you have found a way to clarify the discussion. Sometime ago I was asked “are you a Calvinist or an Arminian”? I did not ha be the words to describe what I saw as somewhere in the middle. I don’t think traditionalist is clear enough because so many believe their position whatever that may be is the traditional position. Thank for your work and the gentle way you present it.

I’m a sinner saved by grace. Arguing about trivial matters is vain and profane jangling. Believe on the Lord Jesus and thou shalt be saved.

Someday, maybe, Flowerist or Flowerian may be the term for biblical-free-willists, but maybe in 100 years, that'll change to Florist or Anthophilian (flower lover). Since the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is going Calvinist and Progressive Politics, though I attend a SBC church, there's no way I'll call myself a SBCist. But if I had to choose, I'd pick from Biblist, Berean, or plain Common-Sensist. As a Mexican-American, I'm not much for that label, unless I need to play the race-card. My label of choice is Christian.

Because many (if not most) of us reject many of the core tenants of Armenianism.

On my particular musical instruments, practicing vertical tonal structures that can be analyzed as chords of stacked third intervals qualifies me to be labeled as a Harmonian, but hopefully the sounds I produce are not totally depraved.

Ppl: are you a Calvinist or Armenian?
Us: no.

It seems that in many cases, the calvinists calling someone an arminian is intended to be an insult.
Many times it's used in place of the word ignorance. Sometimes it replaces stupid.
Simple example:
Me: "Can you please provide a verse reference that says God chose some for eternal damnation from before the foundation of the world"?
Calvinist: "I'm not wasting my time on you. You're obviously arminian. Try reading the Bible and learn something"!

*SAME QUESTION FOR THE CALVINIST*
R. C. Sproul - in his book "Chosen by God" - asserts the very thing John Calvin forcibly and totally rejects.
The existence of "MERE" permission in Calvinism
Obviously - Sproul can't quote Calvin as his source of authority
He instead quotes John Wesley!

So after the Calvinist has completely cherry-picked Calvinism - rejecting those aspects he doesn't find palatable - and in the process shifts over into Arminianism - why doesn't that Calvinist just call himself an Arminian?

Or more precisely - Cal-minian! :-]

I love new labels. I have a friend who calls himself a high Calvinist, his brother says he's a Determinist... I sat he's a Pageantist.

Because for all intents and purposes Arminian's are Calvinists.

I don’t think the theology has changed but the labels have. Consider that some words in the Kjv mean the opposite of what they do now.

I have to admire the intellectualism and eloquence here in your support for 'isms'. Somehow, though, I don't think the apostle Paul would approve. It reminds me of the law and the language lawyers have created that prevents the ordinary folk from participating, unless they, too, go to university to learn this language and get their doctorate. We have to accept it in life in the world. Is this also the accepted way in the new life of the Holy Spirit?

Because everyone who ever read for himself, studied for himself and thought for himself was, sooner or later, called "heretical", I call myself heretical. What I want to know is this: When I call myself heretical, do you think most people understand that word to mean that I read for myself, study for myself and think for myself?

Calvinists and Arminians believe in the active work of the Holy Spirit in conversion (i.e., the new birth). Provisionists do not.
