you can use the items (specially the ones that are thrown infront) to cancel the blue shell. it has the same physics than the shells. if you have, for example a banana peel and a red shell is gonna hit you, as long as the shell and the peel are in a straight line to each other and your direction, the banana will break the shell.

I once did a hop dodge. I was so hyped up about it i dropped my contoller. I placed 3rd.

If you struggle to hop dodge the POW but really want to keep your item, try hopping as you collide with a wall or at the top of an elevated or bump in the road.
These will help you gain extra airtime, increasing the window needed to dodge the POW.

I am inexperienced in mario kart wii, but troy (TWD98) had talked about pow dodging like that but he never actually does it, and i accidentally did it when i played it for the first time in like 10 years, only once though 😂

Dodging the pow block is easy, when it is about to go, just shake the controller, it always worked for me

When I was younger playing Mario kart with my siblings we use to think the only way to dodge the pow was by hopping and we all got pissed finding out you could just shake the Wii controller

I did the frame perfect dodge one time when I was a kid. That was the only way I knew how to dodge the pow for a while. I only ever hit it that one time.

On Mario kart Wii if you shake the Wii remote right as the pow sets of then it won't fully affect you
