Good info Ronnie, Zongshen has some pretty good engines out there. NC300 and 450 liquid cooled mills are very reliable.

Nice video man! I bought a Templar 250 with this engine and so far I have really been happy with it. I really like the simplicity of the engine. I’m also fairly short at 5’7” and the normal Templar fits me really well, much better then my KTM XCW 200.
Nice work on fitting that engine in your KLX! 😊👍 I will subscribe and see what ever else you make on this subject 👍 Thanks

One zongshen engine has compatible parts with the Honda engine used in the CRF230F (carbureted). I used a zongshen cam, piston and jug, timing chain and chain sliders which bolted or placed perfectly onto my oem Honda engine. Works great and parts available, unlike some Honda parts.

this engine is basically a old honda clone, it was even made by a guy from honda the designer was an old honda engineer.

I would definitely be interested in learning more of the engine. I have the 6spd counterbalance engine and daily commute it 40 miles it’s been good so far and I really like it

I had the 230cc non Counterbalance zongshen in an Orion rxb250. The piston was made from chalk and took out the top end. I have since replaced it with another zongshen 300cc 6 speed non-counterbalance engine from bajaj. The right side cover came cracked. Some jb weld and I'm back in business. My faith is shaken but so far the 300cc has been a great running engine for the first 300 miles. I'll be looking to retrofit some more frames I can title for dual sport use. Nice little town and trail bikes.

Recently purchased a counterbalanced 250cc 6 speed from Amazon. Came thru true to the word, except they sent me the wrong cdi. I’m searching for a wiring harness kit to fit. Ordered one off Amazon, but nothing seemed to line up. The two plugs on the back are not labeled and I’m not sure what they’re for. Definitely need the right connectors(should be otw here soon) but from there, I have no idea what to do and this was the first video that described my exact engine. Any info to get this engine going would be most appreciated🙏 I’m grateful I found your video!

i have a old cg 125 clone from baja from 2007 and its still going. I swapped it onto a yamaha blaster left for dead, and i use it alot never had problems with the engine before looking to buy a zongshen 250cc for a upgrade once the engine bites the dust. it should almost double the power lol

Hey nice video, good explanation. I’m wondering where you get parts for this engine I picked up a Giovanni 250cc and it needs valves, camshaft as wells as the sprocket. Can’t find much on Amazon and don’t know if it would be compatible. If you have any idea let me know.

I've got a ZS166FM fit up in the chassis of a 2023 xr150l. I've got everything working, only problem I'm running into is where to send the trigger wire, cause the Honda is a DC cdi, while the zongshen wants an AC cdi. Any tips? 😅
