Chloroquine: A Promising Coronavirus Treatment?

Finally some good news? Several drugs show promise for treating covid-19.

Chloroquine (and hydroxychloroquine), an anti-malarial drug, is in the news today, prominently mentioned during President Trump's morning press conference.

Research does indeed indicate that chloroquine has 'apparent efficacy and acceptable safety against covid-19 associated pneumonia', and has shown to help patients recover more quickly from the coronavirus.

Other treatments -- azithromycin, antiviral remdesivir, and Kevzara -- are now thought to make a positive difference, too.

This encouraging news comes none too soon, as countries around the world are now in a race against time with covid-19.

Entering the hockey-stick BOOM! phase, cases are jumping dramatically and health care systems world-wide brace for the coming tsunami of seriously ill patients.

Will we "flatten the curve" enough in time? We will find out very soon.

The Taiwanese and South Koreans have been using HCQ Hydrochloroquine with great success.... but the pharma companies didn't use it because of profit margins. It's only 5 cents per tablet.

Westerner from Vietnam - once again I gotta say I am amazed it hasnt hit this country hard, but the simple fact is that the government here just locked everything down very early on. Schools have now been suspended since the lunar new year which is before there were any confirmed cases here. It really demonstrates how effective this social isolation policy is. I honestly thought we would be in the epicenter of this. The Vietnamese do national emergencies quite well. The history of the country is such that people here take these situations very seriously with or without government prompting.

I live in western Canada, I work for a grocery store and we have 15 + ppl who have been told to self isolate cause 811 has said they can't test ppl unless you have traveled or have been exposed to someoe who has traveled to an infected region, or if you have trouble breathing. Canada IS NOT DOING TESTING, this is why the numbers coming out of Canada are so bunk, we may have more then the US, keep doing this informative vids

4 your benefit: I was spraying my gardens on 2.2 acres today in S. TX. I heard a 22 round hit one of my sheds. While spraying my back acre gardens I heard more rounds slapping my trees within 50+- feet of me. I yelled several times at my neighbor to stop shooting in my direction. He kept shooting. I called him - he was unapologetic and told me to fO. Use my incident as your wake up notice. Unprepped minds, finding empty store shelves, are distilling this trauma irrationally.

The explanation for the low death count here in Germany: The dead person has to undergo a autopsy in most cases in order to get corona as the reason for the death.
In most cases pneumonia will be counted for the reason.

But It's slowly starting to shift to just leave out the autopsy because it's a stupid procedure and therefor we will get better numbers in the near future.
Also: We are at test max capacity and much more would be required.
