2018 Prototype 2 Windows 10 Crash fix

Im really upset because it worked for other people, but i tried both links and put them in and i still have the same issue. Everytime i start up the game it crashes when i get to keyboard and mouse or controller, you cant do anything before it crashes.

The thing about mine is that I get to the radical logo and then it crashes then... I try and validate the files and it says that one file couldn’t be installed... I don’t know what to do as I just bought this game today

It still has an infinite loading screen at the start. It works if I load in the 68% complete save but I want to play the story so what can I do?

If anybody is still experiencing problem with Prototype 2 on Windows 10, I might have a solution for you. I did it for the first time when this video came out and wrote this instructions months ago. Also of course my setup is different from yours, so it may not work for you or may work differently and may require further tinkering.

First, to even start the game, you have to download those files from the link in the description and follow the video.

However there is another problem - the game's mouse acceleration is tied to frame rate. That means that any frame drop will completely lag/ stutter your mouse, making it borderline unplayable. You can "fix" it by enabling V-Sync in the game's settings.

If this doesn't fix it (either because it is broken or you still encounter frame drops due to your performance) or you don't want V-Sync's input delay, you can set a custom frame in Dxtory, a program you have to download and install. When you start a game, Dxtory will create a profile for it. Then you have to select Prototype 2's profile, go to the Advanced tab and there you can set a custom frame rate limit. When you run the game, don't close the program.

There can also be yet another problem - sometimes the game is broken in the fullscreen mode (cut off partially, not scaled up properly, shifted). To fix it, you have to force it into what is basically borderless windowed mode (emulating fullscreen while it is actually windowed), which it doesn't have. So what you have to do is to download DXWnd. When you open the program, move the game's .exe file called "prototype2" into the opened window, it will create a profile for it. In the profile (which you can edit by right clicking it and pressing "Modify") you should check "No banner", "Run in Window", "Hide desktop background", "X, Y coordinates" and type in "1920" to the right of "W" and "1080" to the right of "H" (setting 1920x1080 width and height of the window). In the Video tab check (or check if it is checked lol) "modal", "Lock win style", "Emulate Win Maximize", "Hide Taskbar", "No Taskbar overlap" "Floating", "Initial resolution: 1920 x 1080". In the Mouse tab "Correct mouse position". In the DirectX tab "DirectX9". Then you just gotta double click the icon to run the game.

That should basically cover every problem to a bigger or lesser extent. I recommend using all of those fixes at once, just forget opening it through the Steam app. It should be fine.

great video! though mine is working fine but I'm facing some stuttering and mouse lagging issue, despite my laptop totally being able to have the settings maxed out (gtx 1050 ti), was wondering if you have the same problems?

When I hit that link to 'zippyshare', it won't let me dl that file unless I agree to install a bunch of bogus apps I don't want. When I dl from the googledrive link, the zip file is empty
