Putin shows African leaders 'peace document' signed and later thrown away by Ukrainian side
Показать описание
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday met with a group of leaders of African countries who traveled to Russia on a “peace mission” the day after they went to Ukraine.
The seven African leaders — the presidents of Comoros, Senegal, South Africa and Zambia, as well as Egypt’s prime minister and top envoys from the Republic of Congo and Uganda — visited Ukraine on Friday to try to help end the nearly 16-month-old war.
During their meeting with Putin on Saturday in St. Petersburg, Russia’s second-largest city where Putin was attending a business forum, Putin showed the African leaders an alleged draft peace agreement with Ukraine, blaming Ukraine and its Western allies for starting the conflict.
Meanwhile, it’s the Ukrainian side that refused to negotiate, Putin said, noting that Ukraine had issued a decree banning talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He also said that the food crisis had been caused by the actions of Western countries, not by what Russia calls a "special military operation" in Ukraine.
