Tanbur Tutorial - Hey Gian IV Basic

Hey Gian

This Maqam is a low-metered Haqqani Maqam in which the lead chanter is accompanied by the group chanters. 4 (some say 5 versions and some say 7) versions of this Nazm exists in Guran region. Their rhythm and tempo are generally the same but the tonalities vary in different versions.

Hey Gian, Hey Gian

"Gian" in Kurdish means "Life" or "Soul" and is often used for calling a beloved person. In this Nazm, "Gian" refers to "Soltan", the leader of Yarsan faith in 13th century.

Wa la law aman, wa ami na wa Ba yan be ni shan, wa ya ghi na wa
With pray and amen Gather together with faith

In addition to being performed in a Kalam session, Hey Gian is also traditionally performed in funeral services and especially during the walking procession for a funeral.
مقام هي گيان: از مقام¬هاي حقاني تنبور است و در كوك برز (Barz) (كوك دو-سل را در گوران كوك برز مي خوانند، در مقابل كوك طه¬رز (Tarz) كه كوك فا-دو است) نواخته مي-شود.
اين مقام داراي نسخه¬هاي متفاوت است (در قدیم 7 نسخه از این مقام موجود بوده، اما اکنون 4 نسخه از آن باقی مانده است، عدهاي از تنبور زنان گوران، مقامی به نام بابا خوشینی را تحت عنوان نسخه¬ي پنجم مقام هی گیان می نوازند، اما اثري از این مقام در نوارهاي ضبط شده از تنبور زنان قدیمی¬تر نیست ). تمام نسخه¬هاي مقام داراي الگوي ریتمیک یکسان هستند. مقام شامل آواز تکخوانی و همخوانی است.. مقام معمولاً با آواز تکخوان شروع شده و با تکرار ترجیع بند همخوانان ادامه می¬یابد.
از مقام هی گیان بیشتر در مراسم خاکسپاري و عزاداري استفاده می¬شود.
ترجیع بند این مقام فقط تکرار عبارت "هی گیان، هی گیان" است.

Good work, i recently bought a kurdish tanbur but i dont have anyone to teach me and iam not finding any books on it. I live in lebanon .
