Shipping cost with Hipa is prohibitive for us in Canada, priced out an ignition coil and shipping was going to be more than the coil.

Good video. I do the same, I’ll try cleaning the oem carb first. If I’m not happy with it I’ll replace with an after market unit. I’ve had pretty good luck using the after market carbs (usually use hipa as well) . Currently replacing the oem carb on a 26cc homelite weedwacker.

I agree that with Powermore engines, they already are "aftermarket". That said, on some older machines I go OEM. I have always had problems with AMZN no-name aftermarket parts. I feel Stens is a few cuts above those really cheap parts.

Good video and here at EP we have had no issues using the Stens aftermarket carbs they seem to all be of good quality made by oem manufacturers. To bad they moved the warehouse from Brantford to Vaughan now you can not go down the street to pick up parts, or can you?

I've had problems with some no-name aftermarket carbs. I once bought 2 for an old commercial mower that didn't work and the 3rd finally was good enough. The cost difference between OEM and aftermarket may be based on the 80/20 rule: 80% of the cost is in the last 20%. In other words, there's more cost to get that last 20% quality improvement to guarantee performance. Otherwise I thought your points were well made, thanks.

If it’s a walbro I rebuilt it, problem is it’s a 50/50 chance now to get a good one
OEM will work every time and not be a hit or miss
Yes it’s up to the them, I even show them what to order online
They get it and I will install
If it’s junk, they can send it back and when they get other one I will change them to install it
Usually by the second or fourth one
There allready have four bills

I rebuild first unless it's too far gone. Generally the aftermarket Honda carbs are good. The tecumseh and B&S are hit and miss IMO.
