This is something nobody ever mentions. You spend the $2000 on the excellent MacBook. But every single app you'd want is paid. The apps on Mac are much more polished on average than their Windows equivalent. But wow do they nickel and dime you absolutely everywhere for it. Doesn't matter how small an app is in it's scope, they will still charge for it and most likely charge a subscription for it.

Want a clipboard manager? Paid App. Customized trackpad gestures? Paid App. How about window management for use with an ultrawide? Paid App.

Nobody talks about this, but Windows provides so much more high quality free software than Mac. If you get a MacBook, make sure you have an extra $100 kicking around to actually customize your laptop for your use case. Mac devs really don't believe in the open source model lmao.
