I’m still on PS4 and I want to get a 5, but I’m worried that given that I’ve waited so long, they’ll release a PS5 pro shortly after I buy the PS5.

At this rate, one day its going to cost $2500 for a PS7 and an RTX69 is going to be $5000. Games will retail for $129, and cod will be 1TB with a 45 second campaign mode.

If they really want to make the ps5 pro, they need to make it stand out from its base model like how the PS4 Pro did with 4K, a nice addition would be total backwards compatibility with all Playstation games to keep up with the Series X

And im one of those PS4 (PRO) owners who's waiting for PS5 PRO. I don't have the luxury to buy PS5 only to spend another for an upgrade. Wish they will release that PRO soon.

Personally I'm still holding out on getting a series x or a ps5 because I also need to upgrade my TV setup, and as it stands now all these new consoles seem to be offering is a compromise either between high frame rate performance or upgraded visual fidelity but never both. So I'm hoping that a pro version of these consoles would eliminate that trade-off all together.

I think in summary both arguments are valid, but it will boil down to
1. current market trend
2. Supply and demand
3. Is the advancement in tech justifiable enough to release an “upgrade”

Both have valid arguments. There is a really good argument for why and why not Sony should release a PS5 Pro. And hence why internally I guarantee you Sony is having this same debate among their internal management and marketing teams as well. Sony is probably 50/50 on going a PS5 Pro. They probably won't make an actual decision until later this summer I'm willing to bet.

Plus I'm sure supply lines are also playing a role even though the chip shortage has somewhat settled down a bit now.

Xbox was saying at the start of this gen they don't see Chip prices to come down in the same way it has in previous generations so I don't expect a Pro or Slim of either brand

I agree with Austin on this one, last gen you had a need for a PS4 pro because of the adoption of 4k televisions. This gen I just don't see a need for a PS5 pro at all. Also Sony is not going release sensitive secret info a year and half early to anyone. Its people guessing and hoping it will come true is all it is.

Imagine if Sony release a disc drive For the PS5 so that you can read all those disc-based games and then they discontinue the version with the disc drive built in.

They could still sell a bundle that has the disc drive.
