I filled a Pewter beer stein with 90% Constitutional silver! Love seeing how these steins are made!

I'm actually surprised that How It's Made is still ongoing.

Originally the first tableware was made of lead, and affected the noble' health. Solid tin became the common metal after that.

Dude when I hear the intro to this show I just pass OUT! It’s the only show that does that for me and I THANK YOU!!

I can only imagine the show creators trying to pitch this to tv executives.

"How about we have this show where you just watch people make stuff?"

I cant believe how fast the pewter metal sets. It's almost instantly.

I have a tankard too but mines a lot less fancy, it’s got a kinda ear shaped handle and no engravings and I’ve never polished it because I never realized pewter was shiny, it’s a dull almost lead color but it’s got nice thick walls and is solid enough to bash someone’s head without it breaking

It’s a good mug

The narration improved a lot. Also the video quality. And don't have unecessary puns at the end. 👍

Certainly a work of art and master craftmanship, most uplifting. Sadly, I don't enjoy drinking out of metal.

Yes, placing the shilling at the bottom of the tankard was a myth. Can you imagine what would happen to the recruiting sergeant if he tried that in an inn full of the man's friends. Another one which is also a myth is that when a man would go to pay for the drinks the sergeant would offer to pay for them instead and give the man the money. The sergeant is then supposed to tell the officer the man has taken the king's shilling and is therefore enlisted. Again this would not happen. The enlisted man would have to voluntarily enlist or it was not legal. Interestingly I know the Royal Air Force used to pay those who enlisted the what was the equivalent amount to the king's shilling in the early 70s.

Anyway, myth or not I love the idea of the King's Shilling Tankard. Turns out they are sold on Amazon. Guess what I want for Christmas.
