I love how shuhua just talks about everything she wants to. And how she just doesn‘t care about the disadvantages.

for some reason this is better than what the other label is doing... artists are the ones who'll manage their own diet and not the label forcing them to loss weight to the extent that they sometimes overdo it

They workout and practice dance. They definitely needs more food.

You wonder why NewJeans has such a regime? The answer is easy: They are young and inexperienced, so there is no one in the group who can stand up and tell the company their requests. Look at Le Sserafim, they are less than a year old but they have Sakura and Chaewon to advocate for them, look at their videos of how they eat and their activities on Leniverse. Basically they are treated like every group should be treated, the company lets them do what they want, eat what they want and they have the best abs in the industry right now. New Jeans needed an experienced member to advocate for them, that's the downside of debuting so young.

Y’all need to take into consideration idols literally count their weight as part of their jobs, like they agreed to look a certain way. Even idols like Hwasa who is known for breaking stereotypes still lose weight. It’s honestly a good thing that Cube let’s them manage their own diets and even let Shuhua talk openly about it

They can eat whatever they want only AFTER debut. Shuhua has talked before about how she would hide in the stairwells to eat snacks when she was a trainee coz it was the only place that didn't have cameras.

im still praying that what newjeans was eating was just a snack during filming or something 🗿🗿like surely they cant be eating only that for a meal? theyre growing girls

i agree as growing girls they should have 3 meals a day with nutritious veggies, as long as they are healthy they should fine! Also as young girls they shouldn't have to live in the mindset that you have to stay "slim" or else your not up to the toxic beauty standards of which korea has

It blows my mind that people are now just finding out how harsh idol life is since gen 2 specially weight management for the idols as old K-pop fan from the start that idols have been telling it how harsh diet is and sometimes ceo of the companies are controlling what they eat some company have weekly weight check from trainees to idols .

I don't understand why Minhejin implied that Hyein ''used to like meat" and that's wrong. Isn't eating meat like beef, fish and, shrimp perfectly healthy and would not let them gain weight? Thats just strange.

Looking back at that newjeans video tho... yikes.
I remember a lot of people were defending the ceo by saying "before performing you cant eat much or else you can vomit, just like working out after eating", which makes sense. But it still doesnt explain the fact that the ceo was like "oh she liked meat before" implying that they were probably on a strict diet that might forbid them from eating meat and force them to eat "healthy".
I have mixed feeling about diet, but I dont understand why the industry is still forcing "thin" instead of "being fit". You can be bigger than average but still healthy because you are developing muscle, and I feel like there's a big chance its because of the usual beauty standards.
And these idols are not even adult yet.

I think kpop companies need to have professional nutritionists on staff if they want to manage an artist's weight, like how athletes do. I doubt that the regular staff is educated on caloric deficits, protein intake, etc. and don't consider that stuff when they starve them, then wonder why they get sick or faint :/

Lots of ppl hate Cube but i can see many positive things they do : Let whatever IDOL want to eat, they not forcing fake image ( they can drink getting drunk, burp, cursing, they are who they are personality and not planed one ), they can openly talk about dating, they can bad-mouth their company, they are allowed solo activities and solo song writing producing, many companies like YG, JYP, SM, Hype forcing idols with diets, fake image, no dating, not allowing any bad words from the company, compare to other companies Cube IDOLS has a little bit more freedom, alltho Cube has many negatives as well i know ( payment, force performance, overworking schedule ) but still many fans act like Cube pure evil and nothing good

“Not as bad” 😭💀💀💀 all of it is bad, healthy balanced food is the way, not crash dieting or measuring cm by cm or calorie restricting

As long as they are healthy and happy that's nothing to worry. And I love how they can eat whatever they want with no pressure .

this is literally just making them feel bad for eating- it’s still bad

Honestly I think *for me* that's even worse?

Many idols come up with stories of them sneaking food into the dorms or whatever, and so basically being able to eat in secret away from the company's eyes. Obviously it's a shame that it has to come down to this, but at the end of the day, at least they're eating "normally" even if they have to go such lengths to do that.

So personally I'd rather go out of my way and do that as well rather than having my pictures taken "at my lowest point" so they can emotionally manipulate me and quite literally "fatshame/bodyshame" me with comments like "see the comparisons? see how fat you are you fucking whale? oh and those pictures? they're never gonna disappear. in fact, let's hang them up on the wall you big fat whale!!!"

Like come awn now... I'd rather some manager just take my sandwish away from me at lunch and try and sneak food later on.

All companies have an investment in their idols, so in a sense I get why they want to keep them fit/attractive. I'm not really sure there is a good way to make sure your idols are eating healthy and working out, without seeming like a controlling monster. I'm not sure public shame is a good method, but I'd hate weekly weigh in too. I suppose that if you want to be an idol, this is just something you have to put up with.

Kinda similar to the topic, Miyeon once talked about her eating habbits. Apparently she just eats what she wants and doesn't exercise at all and doesn't gain or lose that much weight. She probably has a high metabolism or something, that or eats little things here and there instead of big meals.

I don't think people get the luxury of being able to eat whatever they want for an idol. Being told by a company like that is harsh, but considering the hate/criticism an idol can get when fans see them as fat or not "idol like" is way worse. Also this can also make an idol be responsible for their own body rather than forbidding certain foods and limiting their food intake.
