Glad my suggestion helped. It looks a lot better with the top coat added. Cheers

In this type of tasks, you need all the patience possible, because if you don't, it's going to turn really bad at the end result. Thanks for the journey, Michael!

"Dome" was not built in a day! Thank you for caring for such a childhood treasure!!!

It's great to hear you mentioning some of my other favourite channels. This droid is a bigger crossover event than Avengers Endgame.
Good luck with the rest of the restoration.

Still have my original R2 from 78. My mom put my initials on the bottom of R2's foot. Still there to this day. :)

Looks like William trusted the right person to restore his astromech in my opinion. Things like this are not just helping him but a lot of us who are trying to do similar work. Great stuff, man.

Fantastic video. The 1978 nine year old version of myself opening my early bird set NEVER would have imagined where we are today with these cherished toys & your dedication on this project. Thanks for opening my eyes.

There's so much trial and error to these kinds of projects, and I really appreciate all of you out there doing the legwork and sharing w/us. Definitely looking forward to the de-yellowing, as that's the challenge I've faced over the years re: finally getting an R2-D2 for my vintage collection. Those re-pro stickers look so glaringly out of place stuck onto a yellowed body.

Glad to see this video! Hate to say it but the chrome metalized people looks to have done a half assed job. I won’t have let the dome leave the shop looking like that. Good thing you’re creative!! Looks great so far!

I always knew this video would come at some point, Michael. You're good who takes time and don't rush stuff. Glory to you from me.

Set one up for Dave and he just knocks it down - that guy’s money. You all do great work - really can’t wait for the final product!

Your attention to detail and patiance is paying off. I am going to refer to this video next time I get a little impatient with my model airplanes. Thanks for what you do.

Michael,
That is a lot of work and expertise being put into that little droid! Very cool for you to be restoring that for him and for you doing your absolute best to do the best job you can. That is awesome. I know the final product will look amazing. Thanks for the update.😁👍

I'm really glad that you're taking your time. I think your patients is paying off, based on the photos you've shown. I completely agree that the VAC-Metalized finish was far too textured and the Molotow pen was a great call.
Quality over quickness.
