Today we take a look at Noeby as a brand, but focus a lot of our attention to Slow Pitch Jigging, which is:

A method of fishing that involves using a specialized technique and tackle to target various species of fish, particularly in deeper waters. It originated in Japan and has gained popularity worldwide due to its effectiveness and the challenge it presents to anglers.

Technique

The essence of slow pitch jigging lies in the controlled and rhythmic movement of the jig. Unlike traditional fast jigging, which involves rapid and continuous upward and downward movements, slow pitch jigging employs a slower, more deliberate motion. The angler uses short, precise rod movements to make the jig flutter and fall in a natural, erratic pattern, mimicking a wounded or distressed baitfish.

Tackle

Key components of slow pitch jigging gear include:

Rod- Specialised slow pitch jigging rods are light, yet strong and highly responsive. They are designed to work with specific jig weights and to withstand the pressure from fighting large fish.

Reel- Conventional or baitcasting reels with high gear ratios are preferred for their ability to retrieve line quickly and provide better control over the jig's movement.

Line- Braided lines are commonly used due to their strength, sensitivity, and minimal stretch. A fluorocarbon leader is typically attached for its abrasion resistance and invisibility underwater.

Jigs- Slow pitch jigs come in various shapes and weights, designed to flutter and dart as they sink, imitating the movements of injured prey.

Applications

Slow pitch jigging is versatile and can be used to target a wide range of species, including bottom-dwelling fish like groupers and snappers, as well as pelagic species such as tuna and amberjack. It is particularly effective in deep water and areas with strong currents, where the jig's action can attract fish from a distance.

Overall, slow pitch jigging is a highly effective and engaging method of fishing that combines skill, specialized gear, and a deep understanding of fish behavior.
