This is recording of my life demo with Symi Jackson, sales and marketing director of Rosemary and Co, and daughter of founder Rosemary! We explored their travel brush line, which I’ve used and loved ever since Jane Blundell introduced me to them years ago.

Symi and I will be talking about all of the technical aspects of brush making and the range of materials they use. I’ll be demonstrating with my whole quiver of brushes to show how they perform!

After this Live my husband treated me to 3 Rosemary & Co brushes and Maria’s favorite Indanthrone Blue by Daniel Smith. A lovely Mother’s Day gift 💝. Thank you Hubby and thank you Maria for these great Lives.

I'm just now watching this 6 months late, but am thoroughly enjoying it. I placed an order to Rosemary Brushes last week. I'm looking forward to using them. Thank you for this video.

I have my eye on the R16, I have a Silver Velvet Sword (squirrel and synthetic)and adore it. totally agree that a dagger is a cant live without brush, it has replaced my rigger and flat for the most part

I have their eradicator brushes in two sizes 1/4” and 1/2”. I use the smaller one most. Would love a size that is between these two. Brilliant tool. They really should be available in a travel I would be first in line to buy it! I paint florals and use it for veining in leaves, lifting a wee bit of color for highlight, etc as well as the occasional oops. I paint medium to small. Love detail.

I now have the r16& r13 and while I have not practiced with them enough I was very surprised with how long the point was on the r13. It is a lovely brush but I find myself nervous to use it for fear of ruining the point, it is disproportionately longer compared to diameter than I am used to.
I just need to get back into painting and get used to my new tools I guess.

Hi to y'all subscribers as myself. Jim from Madrid, Spain (a fellow artist and a New Yorker expat living abroad).
Great video and review of Rosemary & Co. Travel brushes. I have some and they are great!
I also have Escoda Travel Brushes and they are amazing. I would like to give an opinion on both (including one DaVinci Travel brush - which was the first travel brush I bought in the US which cost me a fortune, in comparison and a Silver Black Brush with mixed sable - real & synthetic).
COMPARISON:
- DaVINCI- their real hair sables are good (their synthetic ones are not spectacular at all). But the way they make their body for travel brushes (screw off and screw at back and viceversa) is not convenient and it's not smooth to the hand when holding the brush unscrewed (it's like a harsh fountain pen in your hand).
- Rosemary & Co.:
They do have the greatest variety of brushes, which is very nice (mainly synthetic).
What I love about them is that they have great flats and some other shapes that almost nobody else has. And... they are thin and easy to carry if you don't need to cover a big area (less than an A4 size).
- Escoda Travel Brushes:
They are really good brushes, synthetic and natural hair. They accommodate for many sizes and they are top notch (amazing performance). They have bigger size travel brushes too, but their variety is more limited than Rosemary & Co (Not by far, though). But... They do have incredible natural hair brushes for travelling (I haven't seen other companies with this offer - specially their "Reserva" line) and they do have great synthetic travelling brushes in most sizes:
- Very good Synthetic MOP/QUILL (Ultimo line);
- Workhorse Kolinski synthetic round sable brushes (extremely good synthetic) - Versatile line;
-The Perla line for details and amazing fine point dagger (nothing to do with the Rosemary & Co. one - sorry).
Now... as I said... Rosemary & Co. Has more brush shapes at hand, but mainly in smaller size brushes, which is very good too, because when painting "on plein air" or doing urban sketching in smaller size sketchbooks (A5, A6, etc.) They are great. As I said, I have a few and will probably by one more.
I just wanted to provide information from an Artist with experience painting "outside" of the studio (call it as you wish) and the types of brushes I usually use (Escoda, Rosemary & Co. & Silver Black Velvet are my favourites because of their quality, portability and longevity with use).
I hope this personal information based on extended use may help others.
Cheers from Sunny Spain!
😁👍😎✌
Note/Disclaimer: This is my own personal view after testing and using the brushes that I personally one from the companies I mention and nobody is paying me a dime for anything (if the would like to... contact me!). 😁👍

My R14 doesn't have a hole on the cap. Is that right?

I should clarify that it's actually R14 that I have, the cap doesn't have any hole. It's the pure squirrel mop brush small size.

It would be so useful if was is clear what the names are of each brush!

I hate it when people put brushes in their if it's a new, 'out of the packet' brush as in this case. Reason: It encourages folks to later put them in their mouths when they've been dipped in cadmium yellow, cadmium red, guess what cadmium is a hazardous material. A pet hate!
