I'm from the US, but my wife is from the Netherlands. I'm not great with Dutch, so when I heard S10 was doing the song in Dutch, I was a little sad. I know a little about the history of using English in Eurovision. Mouth and MacNeal won the national selection with "Ik zie een ster" but went to Eurovision with "I See a Star" the first time the song wasn't entirely in Dutch, and they finished 3rd to "Waterloo" and... um... some Italian guy. Teach-In did the same the next year with Dinge Dong/Ding-a-Dong and won. After Sandra Reemer finished 9th the next year, Dutch came back strong until 1999, when Marlayne finished 8th with "One Good Reason". And since it's been all English except for three instances: In 2006, Treble made up the language for part of "Amambanda", last year Jeangu Macrooy sang part of his song in Sranan Tongo (and not about Broccoli) in "Birth of a New Age", and in 2010 Sieneke sang all in Dutch with "Ik ben verliefd (Sha-la-lie)". All three did terribly, but so did many of the English songs, none worse than 3JS's "Never Alone" (thanks Anouk for getting the Netherlands back in the finals in 2013!)

So... I gave this a chance. With my limited knowledge of Dutch (we live in the US, so I rarely get the chance to immerse myself in it) listening to it the first time without English subtitles... I get the emotion. I loved Salvador Sobral, and Il Volo even though I could understand them because the emotion in what they were singing was so powerful. Then I listened here... and while I rarely cry, my wife did wonder why my voice was cracking after I finished. Onions! It was all onions!

I've seen the odds, watched a couple lists, and wonder if this song could be a repeat of 2019. It's by far my favorite so far (although there are still some to be released, and some I haven't gotten around to listening to). Good luck woman named after a Chevy pickup (and a Samsung Galaxy). I'm behind you 100%!
