I did the same trick on my Bose 500 surround speakers with 2 socks before re-calibrating. Now it is way way better and makes obvious difference. Before it was so silent and could barely hear them and even thought they’re not functioning that made me decide to buy this 700s. But luckily I checked again here and found this. Thank you for the tip! Now I don’t have plan to change it. Because now I could set the surround to 60% which is way way better than before that was set to 100%

Thanks man it worked. I used 4 socks and re calibrated. It increased the sound by triple . Out of the box the sound was way to low and very disappointing. Now it’s great

I just wrapped a towel around my speakers 😂. Worked good as well but I have the 300 series not the 700. I couldn’t find the 700 series on sale.

The rear sound is real. I don't have to cover my socks. I saw Outlander, and the birdsong and rain were caught on the surround speaker, and the whole room seemed to be raining

I had the same Bose system but in black whit stands an everything the big desapointment the rear speakers but you can fix it by covering them when you do the calibration and also have the Sonos the for the rear speaker you have different options but the best is the eras300, I been a Bose fan for years but I had to admit this Bose system is way behind Sonos

I have the 900, dual 700 modules, and the omnis and the sound produced whether viewing content or listening to music is absolutely stellar.

Bro I have the new Bose soundbar 600 and sub 500 but I am looking to get these surround speakers to compete my setup for the full surround sound effects. Do you think they will go on sale at Christmas? Or should I just buy them at this price

Looks like the Bose Surround 700 power adapter outputs to regular speaker wires. Have you tried connecting them to a different (non-bose) speaker?

I would imagine a larger speaker would be more efficient, i.e. louder.
