I like the direction where Moondrop is going with the design.

For 25 years I was using my tried and true Panasonic Shockwave 505 player to listen to my 100+ CDs I bought from the 1990s and it finally gave up the ghost about a year ago. I picked up this MoonDrop 2 ultra over Christmas and it is just fantastic. You cannot beat the sound quality of a wired pair of quality headphones ( I have Bose QC25) paired to a CD player pushing out 1, 411 hz. The blue tooth headphones top out at 256 bit/hz a second and you can hear the difference with good headphones. I just love the experience of a CD. You probably would have to live through that era to appreciate it but CD's are awesome and so is this player.

I would buy and use CDs a lot more if they weren't sold as limited edition merch and were sold as what they actually are, a form of media.

100% use cd's. But more because of the great 6 disc changer in my lexus sc430. (which also btw has a cassette deck 😂 the last production car ever made that comes with a cassette player ❤️)

Is there any difference between the sound of the regular version and the ultra version?

Would I be able to hook this up to my pc so I can use eq software on it then route it to my aune dac/amp? Right now just streaming Apple Music via pc, Mac, or iPhone but Interested in using cds again but I need dsp/eq because I have mild hearing loss.

Looks good to me. I might buy on as I have 500 CDs I no longer listen to because I prefer having HR flac files on my Hiby R4.

it's crazy that sony's very first portable cd player in 1985... 40 yeas ago... looks more lux than this walmart onn brand looking thing.

dont entirely get this. for nostalgia there's teac, yamaha, onkyo, sony, panasonic, and so on readers from a couple DECADES that are superior to this. also there are still out there discmans in working condition that can trade blows. I mean its all cool for this generation z chifi firms to bring some nostalgia with cds, even cassettes. Physical media has its charm. But while tinkering with that why not bring THE comprhensive optical reader that could also play dvds, sacd's and blurays maybe even reap and burn? sony did it decades ago! (not the burning and eventualy drop it all cause sony preferes to keep reapin money from the people), still its an area of opportunity for smaller companies such as the chifi's fiios, tanchjims, shanlings and moondrops out there.
