Good News GNR-08101 (1974)

Love Song was one of the seminal groups of the "Jesus Music" era, and this was their final album (although lead Chuck Girard would go on to make more.) In an era when Christian albums had the reputation of being artless and evangelistic, Final Touch was evangelistic and overall a smooth, professional production. Although it was edging in the country scene of the mid-1970's, it still has some very smooth and rich moments. A memorable production that is joyous and inspirational.
The songs:
Since I Opened Up the Door
Joyous Lament
Jesus Puts the Song in Our Hearts
The Cossack Song
Think About What Jesus Said
Short Allelujah
Living Water
Sunday Afternoon
Book of Life
Don't You Know
Little Pilgrim
The artists:
Chuck Girard, Keyboards and Vocals
Tom Coomes, Guitars and Vocals
Bob Wall, Guitars and Vocals
Jay Truax, Bass, Vocals, 12-string guitar and oboe (Living Water)
John Mehler, Drums

WOW! Time Travel!! I remember the night they came to church and played their "New Songs" and Papa Chuck announcing them. How many memories flood back whenever I listen to them all. It was such a special wonderful, magical time when I got to grow up and watch the Spirit move in 1970s. Some of us have gone to their Heavenly Glory, and some have not yet, but the music, and the words will never leave us. I can close my eyes and listen to this music and I am 14 years old again. Tears flow as I feel Jesus stir my heart and the sweet memories begin, almost as if he was waiting for me and we will take that familiar worship in our hearts and mind. Wearing a head scarf, a long "granny gown" cotton sun dress and flip flops with a sunburn from surfing and my worn Bible in the other hand while sitting on the floor down front with my friends and it was HOME...now it is all gone, but JESUS is the SAME yesterday, today, and forever! AMEN!

Wow. Listening this transports me to the fall of 1974, which is when I first heard it. God used this music to completely change the direction of my life. That was over 50 years now and I’m still on the path of pursuing God.

One of the first Christian and worship rock bands! And in my opinion one of the greatest! 🙏😀⚖️🔥

Great album. I love hearing the record needle... really :). It brings back great memories of how it sounded listening to music through the mid 80s. Thanks for sharing it!

The first Christian rock album I ever listened to as a teenager. I was hooked from the first song.
Thanks for putting it here. My LP has long since disappeared.

Joyous Lament needs to be played Loud. But then that applies to most of the album anyway... classic.

Their two first albums (1972 and 1974) were great. Live in concert a few years later was OK. The albums The Early Years and Legacy unnecessary and so disappointing.
