======================================================
Readings: Isaiah 60: 1-6; Psalm 72: 1-2, 7-8, 10-11, 12-13; Ephesians 3: 2-3a, 5-6; Matthew 2: 1-12.
Homily for the Epiphany of Our Lord
Today we celebrate #the_Epiphany_of_the_Lord, the great feast of God’s revelation to the nations through His Son, Jesus Christ. The word "Epiphany" means "manifestation" or "revelation." The readings today call us to reflect on how God has made Himself known to the world, not only to the people of Israel but to all nations.
The prophet Isaiah proclaims a vision of hope and restoration. He invites Jerusalem to arise and shine, for God’s light has come. This light dispels darkness and draws nations to its brilliance. The gifts of gold and frankincense foreshadow the visit of the Magi in the Gospel, symbolizing the recognition of God’s glory by the nations.
