This is why we need kaveri engine and we need to fund it in hundreds of millions of dollars or even more than $ 1 billion in the upcoming decade to develop our own engine otherwise these things will occur again in the future .

India should ask once for F35 to maintain formality with USA. If they denied, India would directly go for Su57 . After that USA will have no right to impose sanction on India. Because 5th generation fighter is our basic need to save our country from our good neighbour. We are a nuclear power and missile power, China does not want full scale war with India. But pakistan is a failed state. They don't think about their own people. So if pakistan procure 5th generation fighter , that will be a huge threat for India.

To respond to this situation, India must firstly order 36 Rafales in follow on clause. Secondly MMRCA-2 must be accelerated. To tackle USA, it must be conveyed to the State Administration that if F-35 lightning is denied, we will procure SU-57, SU-75 and S-500 systems from Russia to counter threat of 250+ J-20 fighters deployed by PLAAF near LAC. The bowl's in their court enable India against Chinese threat or allow India to seek Russians.

Agree with you that the F 35 Lightning has not been offered to India in the first place. Secondly even if it was offered we will have to wait for a long time because of pending orders from various countries. In the circumstances we do not seem to have any alternative other than the Russian Su 57.

It's interesting to see comparative time line if india wants to go with F35 and our AMCA. I'm sure, it's a lot in such case India should go for F35 becoz it's an need of the hour for India.

Most of our issues with modernizing our military are stuck with the same issue- ENGINES. Engines need to be perfected by us, be it for fighter jets or subs(the AIP system) or tanks, whatever. We need to invest a lot and master engine-technology like we mastered missile technology. Otherwise our plans to modernize our military will be at the mercy of outside engine suppliers and we will not have independence in that regard.

Not gonna say we need F 35 exclusively...but We DO need Stealth jets....and AMCA won't be enough as it's still a decade away.... So we need either the F 35s or su 57M....
