My brother Joey is currently on life support after having suffered a stroke due to a blood clot in the brain. We are taking him off the ventilator tm.. I’m just so devastated and broken by everything. It all happened so fast, none of us were prepared to lose him. I love u Joey..

Thank you for this. I have 'survivor's guilt' over turning off my husband's life support when I was told he was brain dead. I never understood until now that he COULDN'T ever recover. In my head, for some reason, I thought of it as similar to a coma and felt that I just didn't give him enough time after only 3 days of life support. Now, I realize that he was already gone and, keeping his body going would have been cruel. Still... I wasn't able to be at his side when his end came and that is a whole other psychological issue that I will have to learn to live with.

My 25 year old daughter passed after a severe asthma attack.I work in healthcare and I understand brain death. She died May 28th 2021. Today is the 1st time decided to actually watch and see what exact tests are done to determine brain death..

My loved one’s pupils had slight but definite reflexes when I would shine a light in their eyes. Each eye responded differently as well. However, the doctor said that’s not what they’re looking for they’re looking for the eye to move away from the light. Please someone tell me the truth he is gone now. I also feel like they called it too soon, they did the test while sedated. They also seemed to be more concerned with organs then saving him. They did little to nothing to reduce the swelling on his brain.
