My original GameCube Animal Crossing town is around 20 years old at this point and it's been over a decade since I last paid it a visit. Until today!

I wonder what it's going to be like waaaay later. Imagine booting up a GameCube in, say, 2503 (or using your current technology to access the game in some other way) and wandering around somebody's town, knowing that the original owner died hundreds of years ago and that they probably had tons of memories in that town that you will never know.

The statue of a peeing man is an actual thing in Belgium. It is called Manneke Pis (Little Pissing Man) and it is a statue of a naked little boy with water coming out of his youknow.

For how much chaos there is in this, you've made me realize how little I accomplished in my own over 20 year old save file. I never got any gold tools nor statue, never got Nook's up to its final form, and never put signs down naming things after myself or interests. I feel awful about my village lol

The NES without software is not decorative, it's a remanent of a cut feature.
What it actually does when you interact with it is that it searches the memory card for NES ROMs that are saved to it.
People have reverse engineered it and figured out how to load these ROMs onto the memory card for you to be able to play them through Animal Crossing.

I love the villagers from the original AC. They feel more real. Even the current "cranky" characters are happy-go-lucky. Maybe that's why they started making the designing more important than villager interactions. I want a character to get mad at me if I haven't talked to them for a long time. Now they just give pity parties. Which I hate.

God, that first villiager saying they moved to another town gave me war flashbacks to the time Tangy, my favorite villager back then, moved to my friend Zach's town and I got SO mad thinking he made it happen somehow

I love seeing people's old towns! I only got into AC a couple of years ago so while I've been playing the older games, the history is missing. I wish I'd been able to enjoy each game as they released.

you say they won't remake the original because of that statue, but new horizons included the statue of david uncensored so anything's possible 😂

A peeing statue in the middle of your living room is exactly what we all expected/hoped to see from past Dan. I like that the real story of the gamecube, The Crust, was saved as a special treat for us livestream viewers 🥰🥲

I didnt have the original animal crossing as a kid because i distinctly remember just being confused by the title. So, i got it years later in my teen years and lately ive been thinking about grabbing it when i go to my parents, this definitely tells me i should.

Ooo, I need to look over my old GameCube memory cards, I still have some of it in storage. I doubt I kept my first save, but maybe my 2nd. I never got far. I also haven't played an Animal Crossing game since lol
I was honestly obsessed with collecting stuff for the museum.
