I bought a dovetail saw and a sash saw of his maybe five or six years ago. I thought about picking up one or two others from him, but the wait times kept increasing every time I checked back (rightfully so, as he did beautiful work). The last time I looked at his site I saw that he had shut down production because of his health issues, but I just sort of naturally assumed that he would recover and maybe be back to with within a few years. The only words I exchanged with the man were asking about the wait time for my order, and then letting him know that they were beautiful pieces when I finally got them, but this still hit me pretty hard. I don't know that any of his family will see this comment, and I know it won't make the loss any easier, but he was truly a special man whose impact in the woodworking community will be felt for a long, long time.

This really hits home for me. My wife is in hospital languishing with cancer. I had to go home and sleep and care for the animals, her pride and joy. While failing at the sleep part of that I came across your video. I appreciate you highlighting this patriot, remembering great people like Erik is important.

Eric was wonderful, but so are you. In addition to woodworking teaching and tips, you are brilliant at sharing historical and cultural contexts. Feeling grateful...

Great one Rex, Eric’s passing was a tragedy. It did show many of us just how great the woodworking community can be though. People came together to help his family in a way not often seen in this world anymore. Eric will not be forgotten.

I bought a saw from Eric about 3 years ago, as a gift to myself upon my retirement from the military. The saw is a pleasure to use. I was saddened to hear about his passing.

I met Eric and his wife at Sam Beauford wood festival they had a booth with saw samples. I did end up buying a dovetail and bench saws from him. He was a nice guy and family man gone to soon.

I own a custom 5 saw set he built me dovetail, carcass, tenon, bench top, and halfback. I think of him and our phone conversations every time I’m in the shop. They don’t each get used everyday and sometimes I turn to a different saw L-N or PAX depending on the specific need and how the saws are set up, but just the sight of them reminds me of how kind, honest, and poised he always was with me. I knew his last operations officer pretty well as we had both worked together in other units concerning some of the same matters; he said of Erik that he was a stellar Marine and a fine man. My time spent with him after we had both left the Corps behind us was enjoyable and therapeutic at once. We both live is areas where there are nearly no Marines and it was always uplifting to share some time with someone who spoke the same language and held the same understanding of men, the nation, and the world as it actually is; not what the powers want people to believe it is. Thanks Rex for the kind words 🫡

So sorry to have heard about Eric’s passing. I bought his wonderful dovetail saw a few years ago, and now like you Rex, I will pause and think of him every time I pick up the saw. Life goes on.

I bought a FTW saw a few years ago. I try to buy American and his saw was the perfect answer to my quest. I also read his story and was proud to own his dovetail saw. I wonder what else he might have achieved if his time had not been so short. Rest in peace.

I have a really great saw Eric made and he reached out to me about how I wanted him to sharpen it. Every time I use it I think about him and I'm always really inspired by how he built a business with purpose.

Protected our country, and then protected the craft, sounds like the definition of the kind of man this country needs, I hope this reaches far and touches the who will be inspired to do the same
