F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby is considered one of the greatest american novels. If you ask historian and author Richard Webb Jr., he’ll tell you it’s the perfect novel of the twentieth century.
We had the pleasure of speaking with Webb about his research and his book BOATS AGAINST THE CURRENT: THE HONEYMOON SUMMER OF SCOTT AND ZELDA, which advances the theory that the inspiration for The Great Gatsby was not Great Neck, Long Island, but rather Westport, CT. It was no surprise that he had a bounty of fascinating information on the Fitzgeralds and the influence that Westport had on each of their works.
