This Bible study devotional covers Psalm 51. In this passage, David wants his adultery with Bathsheba to be blotted out, washed away, and cleansed. Only God can create a new heart, so David asks God to make him new, because God’s love never fails to show compassion.

As always, we are committed to showing you how to see the good news of the Gospel in every passage of Scripture. In Psalm 51, we see that Jesus gives us everything David prays God would give him. Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross cleans our conscience and “un-sins” our heart. Through Jesus, God never fails to show compassion to sinners who ask for forgiveness.

Indeed man is desperately wicked and I can identify with David seeing his sins and wanting it all gone as if they never occurred.
Thank You Jesus for that sacrifice on the cross. It's gone, all gone!!

I disagree with calling David’s sin an affair. I highly doubt a woman would be able to deny the king’s wishes. David fully abused his position and took Bathsheba while her husband was away at war. This definitely added to the depth of his sin. A loyal ranking warrior in his army is away and David takes the wife. It’s is definitely NOT an affair.
