It breaks my heart how unlucky Rafa has been at the AO, so many missed chances through injury and plain bad luck..

My question is is wth was roger coming to the net on nadal for anyway? Nadal has like the best passing shots in the game, you can’t play the net against him

The last time Nadal had proper tactics outside clay against any1 between Federer or Djokovic. Injuries are part of the problem, however people seem to forget that. He was able to move much better in 2014 compared to even 2015, let alone 2018.

Federer went to the net so much because he lost confidence in his grounstrokes against Nadal. Only changed in 2017

Federer chose a wrong tactic against a superb version of Nadal. It would've been great to see a fit Nadal against Stanimal in the final.

Respect to nadal (from a fed fan) he was just too good. I am the only who thinks fed should have not came in so much tho? Like his ground game was fine and obv nadals passing game was too good.

Pure genius he’s blowing Federer off the course and completely destroying him. Stunning and incredible tennis.

He paid the price though. He got injured in the next match. Attacking Roger's attacking game causes so much fatigue in the muscles.

Nobody would've thought at that time that it might be Rafa's last win on hard against either Federer or Djokovic. He was playing some of his best tennis on this surface but then his body was just about to get worse and worse. Look at the way he moves and his passing shots here in the video. Today he plays so much different. It's sad for me.

Federer was not a good sport in congratulating Rafa or smiling - seen this side of Federer a few too many times! RAFA would have been smiling and patting Federer on the back for winning! RAFA is the better human being and a good sport on every occasion! Great Match played brilliantly with a well deserved win by Rafael Nadal! 🙏💪🎾😘

After the back injury in AO Final 2014, physically Rafa has never been the same. 2013-AO 2014. Rafa at his peak. He could play anywhere against any opponent.

What a bummer that Nadal was injured for the final and didn't get the double slam vs Warwinka who he was something like 18-2 head to head...not saying Wawrinka had no chance to beat a healthy Nadal...but the odds were greatly stacked against him...Wawrinka did not have the game to trouble Nadal consistently...Nadal was also up a break in the 5th vs Novak in 2012 and Federer in 2017 and lost both....if Nadal gets that double slam conversation over on who is the GOAT...

As a lot of people are saying, Federer came to the net too often in this match. He should come to the net on short balls and ONLY short balls. But another thing I noticed is that Federer didn't cover down-the-line when he was at the net. That is what Rafa is known for; down-the-line passing shots. If you don't cover it, Rafa will kill you! I've had that happen to me a few times; when I play practice points against my coach he always passes me down the line (fun fact: I am a Federer fan and play a lot like him and my coach is a Nadal fan). Hopefully from this match I will learn a lesson!
