Chipping is easy but only if you have the right bounce so my advice would be to get fitted for a wedge..a 56degree with 12 bounce is the wedge I use most often.fluffy grass is where this works best but I think any amateur should have 2 wedges.one for tight lies with low bounce and one for fluffy lies with high bounce.you will be able to play any shot you want around the greens with 2 wedges.

I'm back and the best protocol I can say I've found since 11months ago get them elbows closer to your body, when needing to execute a body control shot. plus, hinge and hold through the impact zone.

When I played I recognised that this type of shot would come up often, so, I used to practice it, what I observed of other higher handicap golfers didn’t hit through the ball, they stabbed at it, almost punched it which often produced mixed results, my simple mantra was...practice more what your not good at, sounds obvious, boring even, but it’s true, most golfers don’t practice enough, the short game is your saver, if you hit a bad approach it’s nice to be confident that you’ll get up and down in two, that’s why practice gives you that confidence, also, I’d say practice one handed so for little awkward shots you can do it to save a stroke maybe.

I agree. I have never seen a sport as humbling as golf. I can go 4-3-5 6-4-9-3-4-5. Why the 9 ouch. But I won't give up.

If an 18 handicap amateur golfer would just make conservative shots to not have any blowout holes, and concentrated on just making bogey on each hole (without handicap), that would be par for the course with handicap, a great score for an amateur!
