Greenhouse Gases From Cows And Going Vegan

preview_player
Показать описание
Dr. Klaper talks about veganism, greenhouse gases (from cows and other sources), and climate change. The three main greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide from burning forests, methane largely from animal agriculture, and nitrous oxide from ammonia-based fertilizers. If we all went vegan would we be overrun with cows?

Question: If we all went vegan, wouldn’t we still have greenhouse gases coming from cows? Would we just kill them?

Glen Merzer's Food is Climate is excellent and concise. Currently I am reading Richard Oppenlander's Food Choice and Sustainability. It is longer, with more details, and also excellent. Thank you Dr. Klaper for addressing planetary health and ethics as well as personal health.

Excellent easy to understand video about the connection between food and climate change.
The passion and concern for the planet really comes through.
Thank you Dr Klaper for everything you do !

Unless you are in a survival situation there is no moral justification for not being vegan!!

The excuse "we will be overrun with cows and chickens if we all go vegan" has got to be the dumbest thing Ive heard

“By eating meat we share the responsibility of climate change, the destruction of our forests, and the poisoning of our air and water. The simple act of becoming a vegetarian will make a difference in the health of our planet.”

Great job Guys!! I love these Q & A's and always learn so much from them. This amazing doctor and kind, gentle man has devoted his life to educate us about how we can indeed take control of our own health through plant based eating. At the same time he has worked tirelessly to raise our awareness about the violent life animals have to endure in their short time on earth before they are viciously slaughtered. In this short film he has brilliantly explained the circle of destruction that we have set up for our precious home - Planet Earth. If his profound messages could be heard and heeded by every living soul, we could indeed heal our environment while healing ourselves. All of this could be achieved simply by extending to all animals the kindness and compassion they have always deserved. Once again, thank you Dr. Klaper!

Nearly 1 billion acres of industrialized farmland in the U.S. in which monoculture crop growth has led to decimated soil health. Our crops, mostly to feed billions of land mammals destined for our plates, are grown in lifeless dirt which needs increasingly powerful toxic chemical fertilizers and pesticides, These 1 billion acres, continuously tilled, are no longer capable of absorbing the discharged carbon. As a result, carbon sits in the atmosphere and wreaks havoc with weather systems which lead to droughts, floods, fires, etc. Solutions abound but rarely does anyone ask commercial agriculture to tweak the systems by abandoning archaic technology and seek to stop tilling, plant varied crops, rotate crops, etc.

I picked up the book last time it was mentioned; such an eye opener, and I now refer to 'The Killing Machine' when I talk about veganism. Good stuff!

Do you have a video on BUN/Creat ratio. I’ve been vegan for a few months now and my test came back low at 9.2 in a range from 10-28. Is this okay or something I should be worried about?

I don’t eat a lot during the day

Dr. Klaper i love all your work and all the science behind food as medicine and all the biological facts.

Please don't fall into the trap of climate change. I work as a biologist and would like to share a biological fact. The more CO2 there is in the atmosphere the more plant growth and oxygen. This is the way the ecosystem works and has worked since dawn of time.

No one takes into account the CO2 the oceans produce or even one active vulcano.

Again Dr. Klaper i love all the work you have done, please dont push the climate change narrative and making people go vegan because of it. People should go vegan because of biological facts now corporate climate change narrative.
