This acoustic version of "People Get Ready" was taped live at Pearl’s on September 10th, 1994, a storefront restaurant in Annapolis, MD where Eva sometimes performed solo.
When it comes to defining the skills Eva Cassidy possessed, I can never use enough superlatives to describe her perfect vocals and her spot-on but less-noted guitar skills. I always fall short. Apparently, it's hard to define excellence on that high of a euphonic plane.

My beautiful sister just lost her husband to brain cancer two days ago. They were soul mates and shared a love that was an inspiration to us all. I forwarded her the link to Eva's amazing rendition of "People get ready" in hopes that it would bring her some peace. I mentioned that Eva had also lost her battle with cancer. She just responded saying "Beautiful. I don't remember hearing this song before. Such a voice silenced too soon." Amen.
