I've had excellent luck with the Paria RECHARGE XL INSULATED SLEEPING PAD, but it weighs 4 OZ more than the Xtherm and has an R-value of 4.7 (Xtherm is 6.9). @ sub $100 it's a steal IMHO. I add a foam pad for anything close to, or below, 30 degrees. always have a 20-degree, or zero-degree bag, depending on the forecast.

I’ve used condensed foam old military pad for years even in below zero temps .. but as I got older I use my old foam with a air up thermal pad only issue I’ve seen in 59 years is air pad failure it’s a problem in backcountry so always carry a foam and double up for extreme cold and comfort 👊🏻with air pad

Took me awhile to find the perfect system for me, I use a Neoair X-lite pad, a Western Mountaineering Terralite 25 degree bag, a Sea to Summit Reactor liner if I need it and a Big 5 bivy cover if I need it. I also use 2 insulated military surplus space blankets under my Thermarest inside a Hilleberg Akto tent with a footprint. Never had a problem with warmth. That’s my backpacking backcountry hunting sleeping setup.

Now that I am an adult I use and carry a pad. Thermarest uberlite, like 10 ounces. I calculated for every pound I save it costs me $500.00.
