‘Someone is on the other side of that debt.’
So obvious yet most never think of it.

When I speak to friends, family and colleagues, the huge missing link for a lot of people is understanding that someone sits on the other side of our costs and debts - it doesn't help that the vast majority of them hide behind faceless corporations, and on super yachts...

We are constantly told by our governement that every time house prices increase, that is a sign of growth, when actually we are all on a treadmill to pay more money for the same pile of bricks - who does that benefit?

Not us ...

He explains the complexity of economics in a way my child could understand. Keep speaking Gary! I hope everyone stumbles upon you. Everyone needs to hear this man speak.

The wealth divide is happening here in Denmark as well.
It is like some automated function playing out in the global economy

We all know who they are too. Remember when Greece had its economic crisis. Only way it could get its debt restructured was if it gave up all its ports, airports, railways etc up for private ownership. Couple of massive finance companies own or will own everything in the world. Dystopian nightmare then ensues with a future so often portrayed in tv shows/movies of the genre. OCP, Umbrella, Weyland-Yutani, Tyrell - take your pick.

Debt is always to somebody, someone's on the other side of that. Preach!

My mum and dad bought their house in 1972 on the green card scheme.
The council sold land cheaper to a builder. The council house tenants like mum and dad bought their house a bit cheaper.
The council house they lived in went back to the council for another family to live in.
That scheme stopped when Thatcher bought in the right to buy your council house.
Such a shame.

It's really interesting seeing his perspective on assets growing up in a poor household but being really good at maths. The Labour party in all Monarch countries seem to follow the same playbook by increasing the minimum wage, but it doesn’t feel like much of a payrise when the cost of everything went up 20%

Well stated. Not everyone is in debt and poor. There are the mega rich few.
