The Catch With 50% Stat Boost Accessories in Mario RPG #shorts

Quick PSA about Super Mario RPG. I've talked about several accessories in Mario RPG that the game doesn't tell you provides a 50% Stat Boost. However there is a catch with these items. The 50% buff is the same buff you get from items such as the Bracer, Geno's "Geno Boost" spell, or any of the Flowers that sometimes fly out of the enemies when you defeat them, meaning you can't stack these benefits. Furthermore there a few bosses that have a spell called "Shredder" which removes these buffs, which in these cases renders the accessories useless. So if you want true max stats, you need to bolster your raw stats, and then apply these 50% buffs

Items that boosts your stats in battle: Ghost Medal, Troopa Pin, Quartz Charm, Bracer, Energizer, Crystalline, Power Blast, the Flower boosts do not stack and are effectivley Geno boosts.

They are removed by death and Shredder, you would need to re-apply them or re-enter battle in the case of the accessories. In terms of unlisted stats, Quartz Charm also grants Instant Death immunity IIRC.

Yeah, those accessories are best for regular short fights, but against a few select boss fights(Like Culex or Smithy), you are better off equipping stuff like Safety Ring, Jinx Belt, Rare Scarf, etc.

Also the enemy attack, Shredder, kills the stat boost with those items.

That doesn’t make sense most of the time but make makes sense balance wise…

Yeah you're right and even seems to be the case for coins and EXP as well when you succesfully double your coins or EXP from winning the mini game after a battle it won't seem to work if you have a EXP booster equipped or coin doubler

It’s insane all he mechanics I missed as a kid. I just went about my life equipping what ever an button mashing. Going to try and let my son do the same thing on the remaster - don’t want to bore him with min maxing! He’s 8

And this is why I recommend the accessories I did can't really find much better options then that hopefully the Remake will fix this both in terms of actually telling you what some do (maybe make the Super Suit a little easier to obtain) and maybe just some balance changing i.e. buffing some of the weaker accessories to make also forgor to say this Amulet on Bowser HA HA Bowser Smells 😋
