The most obvious big difference is that the Toyota will still be drivable in 15-20 years with no more than routine maintenance. Jeep / Chrysler is now owned by Fiat (fix it again Tony). Quality is most likely going to go down further.

i think the wrangler is and will always be in a category of its own. everything else is just an suv, while the wrangler is almost a street legal polaris razor

The new Jeep Gladiator Mojave is probably a closer match in setup (suspension wise)?

What winter tires are you using on the 4runner?
I need to put winter rubber on mine. But have no idea what to go for

Levers bells & trinkets. Big whoop Dee. How about coming back in 10 years and see how they hold up? Resale years down the road? Methinks the Chrysler product will be on the junk heap while the forerunner will still be bombing around like crazy. I sat in the top of the line jeep Cherokee with the diesel and it was plastic garbage for $70, 000 Canadian. I wouldn’t give that vehicle to my worst enemy. Unrefined, noisy, and just generally cheap. It looked and felt so bad just sitting in the driver seat we did not even take it out for a test drive.

I understand you guys want both toyota and jeep fans to watch this video but can all these reviewer be honest for once? We all know that jeep will be next to a trashcan after 100k miles while the 4runner will be crawling rocks at 300k miles and even then have better resale value then the jeep. So better touch lever and better feeling button sure but since when do truck buyers care abt shit like that ? I remember when push to start came into trucks everyone was like i dont want that in my truck just give me a key and now we have people complain my screen isn't big enough

I personally would buy neither. Jeep JL Rubicon unlimited will cost 60-65 K CDN and a TRD pro is around 65 K CDN. You can buy a 2020 Lexus GX 460 for 5-10 K more which is equally comparable offroad minus a few degrees in angles but a solid comfortable ride and unmatched reliability which will surely save your buttocks in deep woods or Northern roads. It's only downside is poor fuel economy but not any worse than these 2 rigs. The maintenance costs would be comparable to the 4Runner seeing that the frame and most components are shared between them. Plus, it also has a massive cult following so how can you go wrong with a GX?

Save your money and just buy an old jeep if you have to own one.
I've had a u-joint in the front axle fail, shrapnel from somewhere was floating around in my rear dif, alternator is going (sounds like a supercharger) and my electronics keep blinking until it warms up sometimes in below 0 temps. Not to mention a discerning clunk/click when I put it in and out of park... which I've been told is normal and nothing to worry about.
Warranty coverage... well u-joint fail, denied after holding my jeep for 2 weeks. Blinking electronics... of course won't happen for a mechanic. Rear dif and alternator situation... new problems and to be determined since the most understanding dealership I could find is an hour away (there's 3 closer). And my loaded Rubicon has less than 30000 km on it.
My biggest hurtle. Their techs find traces of off road use (ie. some mud in the undercarriage and scratches) which classifies as abuse and keeps their hands clean. Not to mention getting fiat/chrysler directly involved is an absolute joke too. They'll even suggest paying for it to start the repairs and when (IF) the warranty kicks in, they'll reimburse. Constantly debating just having it fully checked over, fixed and sold at a loss of thousands to buy myself an old TJ again.
More problems with a less than 2 year old jeep than I did with a 20 year old one at over 10x the price I paid for the old one too. Absolutely disgusting, should be illegal to advertise these things the way they do if it's up to hunting down and traveling to find an honest dealer to honor it's warranty if you use it like so.

A big difference between the two when it comes to tire size, the Jeep can accept 35” tires with no modifications, the overpriced toyota only comes with small tires, and a lift would be very expensive for that IFS.. I have owned three toyotas with IFS, and I found the front suspension to be very poor off road, especially after owning a solid axle bronco, night and day, when I first got my toyota after I actually bent my upper bump stop I felt I had to drive it like a grandmother would despite installing heavy duty springs and double shocking it, jeeps reliability? Lol it seems one can’t have both in one vehicle.
