The problem with his argument is the first step. "If the author is not compensated for the book they will not write the book." This seems untrue to me. People produce vast quantities of writing without any expectation of being paid. Probably the vast majority of authors never make a penny.

The same is true for music/philosophy/etc. People will in fact produce it for free.

Aren't these types of anti-trust suits a form of government-encouraged entitlement mentality? "I am entitled to what I want, when I want it, at the price I want to pay for it and the producer's or owner's rights to their property is irrelevant!" ?

If book prices are too high and book writers are making tons of profit, why don't all the whiners demanding price controls just write a god damn book and become millionaires?? If its an unfair transaction for buyers, why not become the seller and get rich instead of whining about being a buyer and getting "ripped off"? Its because it is not an unfair transaction for buyers.
