We Hacked A Leap Frog Learning Hand Held To Run Emulators And Overclocked It!

preview_player
Показать описание
We installed Retroarch and even overclocked a leapfrog LeapsterGS so we can run retro games like NES, SNES, Gameboy, GBA and even PS1 Sort Of. running emulators on a leap frog device is pretty cool but its not going to be a steam deck killer. If you have a leap frog Leapster GS laying around it makes a cool project.

This is incredible. My daughter picked this out at goodwill today saying look dad I’ll get my own switch. I went online to order some cartridges and saw that it had a script written and I got excited to go down that rabbit hole. She’ll be happy to play Mario and sonic

Finally, the handheld market makes a huge leapster forward.

The fact that it's from 2012/2013 makes this relatively impressive!

Thank you for making this video! I’ve been following this project for a little bit now and was hopeful you would work on it.

This is freakin' awesome! I dug out the old LeapsterGS that's been sitting in a toy box for years, turned it into a Gameboy/SNES, and now my 10 year old grandson won't stop playing it! He loves it! Thanks for making this video.

Me: “wow this is actually kinda cool, I might grab one just for the hilarity of it”

ETA Prime 10 seconds later: “obviously you’re not gonna buy one of these just for retro leap”

You’ve convinced me.
I’m throwing out my steam deck and buying one of these

This was made for retro emulation.
It has form factor and A/B button layout that's perfect for GBC and GBA games.
It has optional extra buttons you can use for other systems if you wanna get fancy.
And it has an encouraging smiley face on the back.

It was released at the end of 20, 2012? (0:43)That’s some far future tech 😂 Glad to hear humans are still around

I would have never thought I would see a video on this channel about a Leap Frog device.

Retroarch is the new Doom. Someone should port it in a calculator.

my sister had one of these when she was younger. I think the ergonomics are actually pretty decent, and if it had a faster processor/60hz screen might unironically make for a decent emulator for a little brother or something

I absolutely adore that this actually works. I can't help but smile for this entire video.

I find it funny that a 2012 kids toy has the same emulation ability as a lot of the new purpose made handheld emulators

I remember see this project being recommended to me a couple weeks ago and now more tutorials are coming out. Can’t wait for the Leapster Boom of 2023. Steam Deck eat your heart out
