Wow, what an awesome video, very good step by step explanation, that covered steps that others did not. You are a lifesaver, thank you so much!

I was following another guide for setting up the ELK Stack for a particular application, and I could not for the life of me get Logstash to work, I was Google searching the errors, and not having any luck. I decided to look for YouTube Videos Specific to Logstash, and your part about running these two commands (which is probably very basic for setting up Logstash, but for a newbie to ELK Stack and trying to setup something very quickly, can be overlooked). The Commands are in the Learn Logstash section like you stated, not sure how I missed it. The commands I am referring to are:

bin/logstash -f first-pipeline.conf --config.test_and_exit

bin/logstash -f first-pipeline.conf --config.reload.automatic

Except I had to use ./logstash -f first-pipeline.conf --config.test_and_exit as I was in the bin directory.

After running those commands, fixing the other errors, which were easier to figure out, I got it working!

1 question:-
In the above scenario you have used mutate to convert column's datatype to integers. Similarly, will writing "date" instead of integer change column datatype to date?

thank you so much for the instruction, i have few question, i want to run this from clientside to serverside, which means the clientside sending csv file to elasticsearch in serverside. i want to transport the log from clientside with logstash but it failed. any suggestion?

Great tutorial. One question, anyone know how to update the index if only certain data changes. For example, if i index a CSV file in elastic and then add an entry, elastic shall currently index the complete dataset again. Is there a modification that can be made to the logstash config file in order for only modified entries to be updated?

I ingested multiple similar .csv files of the same type, just different dates a few extra entries, and it added all of the data together. Isn't it supposed to be able to skip similar entries?
