Is the abacus the first computing device invented?

The West and other countries may probably answer it true. In China, however, mathematicians and traders use more ancient device before the birth of their abacus. This more ancient device consist of counting rods.

Although the manipulation of counting rods are much slower than the abacus, the counting rods are more convenient to use than the abacus when solving matrix problems.

We may then rephrase the question as "What are the first fundamental computers invented and used by China in ancient times?"

We may then answer, counting rods and abacus.
