This song reminds me of my grandfather. It's hard for me to talk about him without tearing up.. He was a survivor of brain cancer. Once he got out of the hospital, the doctors told him the cancer was gone, it was a true miracle. Everything was going well. He was starting to grow his hair back, until, one summer, when I was spending the weekend at his house about 7 years ago when I was 9, He was in the bathroom washing up, and it had been a while. When 30 minutes passed, I started calling his name. When he didn't reply, I rushed into the bathroom, only to find my grandfather lying on the tile floor, blood pooled around his head. When I called 911 and my parents to come pick me up, I was just shaking. By the time my parents got there, grandpa had been taken away to the ER. A week later, we found he had a stroke, and passed out on the floor, cracking his head open. I became depressed and circled myself out of my social life. I barely ate, and it was hard to sleep. My parents told me it had nothing to do with me, yet all I could do was blame myself. My dad and I went to visit him in the hospital, and by the time we got there, (he was in a hospital 6 hours away) he had stopped breathing. I locked myself in my room and rarely came out for the next year. I'm better now, yet I have a little bit of depression still inside me. This song reminds me of him because I can't stop thinking about him, and the "everything will break, people say goodbye" reminds me of how him stepping inside the bathroom changed everything for me. This year, my mom was diagnosed with many brain tumors, but we'll see how it goes. Thank you for reading, I'm deeply sorry for any of your losses, and I apologize for wasting your time.
