What are sentence fragments in English and how can you identify them? In this English grammar lesson for beginners, I will teach you how to identify and correct sentence fragments. A sentence fragment is generally a group of words that is punctuated as a sentence but is incorrect. It does not form a complete sentence as it usually lacks a subject, a verb, or a complete thought.

Sentence Fragment Examples:
➡️ Missing a subject:
• Walked to the cinema last night.

➡️ Missing a verb:
• The ducks by the pond quacking loudly.

➡️ Does not express a complete thought:
• Because I wasn't feeling well.
Dependent clauses are sentence fragments if they aren't connected with an independent clause.

In this lesson, I will teach you how to correct sentence fragments by adding words that are missing or combining them with other sentences. There will be a quiz at the end of the lesson.

Thank you for showing fragments. You have to complete a thought or action. Kindness, Teresa

I recognized all the fragments. Your corrections were the ones I used, too, but goofed up by adding a semicolon after fields and before wagging. I forgot you must have a complete sentence after a semicolon-but I am learning! Thank you for helping me, Jennifer.

A walk in the park... or should I say; it was a walk in the park. Lol

Although I've had many happy moments in my life, inside, I've  mostly been an angry person. It's something I share with many people; even animals too. But I heard something today that went straight to where I live; and that was Jim Henson, the puppeteer's last words…

“Please watch out for each other, love everyone and forgive everyone, including yourself. Forgive your anger…” : )
