That last one is an interesting one that you wouldn't intuitively think of. I think we solved a similar problem in engineering school. I need to measure the static coefficient of friction between a nylon belt and multiple coated surfaces with different Ra values. I think I'll go with methods 2 and 3. I wish we had a tribometer.
