Airplane food doesn't taste bad it just whether or not Airlines wants to serve delicious food on the plane. Emirates, Thai, Singapore etc... have excellent food. United, Delta, etc on the other hand....

When he brings up the fact that airlines work hard to keep their costs down. It sounds like they’re only trying to save money.

That’s part-true, but one big reason is because customers have shown that we generally prefer low price to luxury and service when we fly.

Keeping costs low allows them to charge less, and draw in more customers.

Yes, BUT try flying Cath Pac, Singapore, Thai, or China Southern. Indeed, if you hop The Puddle with China Southern, try to get a seat near the rear, as the galley there runs an all night snack service, rotating through through things like noddles and sandwiches.

In my experience, the food on international flights tends to be better quality than food served on domestic flights, regardless of airline. My favorite on international flights is Turkish Airlines. Their food is delicious!

The in flight meals on KLM are fairly decent. If I didn't have textural issues with some foods, I'd be able to eat the entire meal.

my dinner and breakfast on my quantas flight from LAX to Sydney was EXCELLENT. My dinner on the return flight was just as good, and the breakfast just wasn't to my taste, but my travelmate LOVED it.

The only bad airline food I've had was a really bland sandwich on Aeromexico.
