Funny, she insults engineers then needs to hire a few.

These are the kind of job adverts that ailing companies often post in order to give the impression that they're still going "full steam ahead" -- when in fact, they're just sitting on their office chairs and spinning around and around and around whilst bereft of ideas and product.

So this is basically: "We're looking for an engineer to invent viable wireless power so we can take credit and money for it"

The only way it's going to be high impact and groundbreaking is if they drop the antenna

Man, if only I had no conscience and lack of any kind of scruples, i could be a millionaire too. Damn humanity holding me back.

I'm applying.
I'm fresh out of college, which should be enough for the senior positions. Plus I have a lot of experience of photographing concerts so I know how it feels to have myself battered by acoustics.
And I could use whatever $$$ they have left over. They probably have a LOT left over.

Looks like they recycled the same job posting to fill a position after someone left.

I can see the problem easily. They are trying too hard to recruit experienced and knowledgeable engineers. These people all falsely believe that uBeam is impractical. What this company really needs is for Meredith Perry to take over the complete engineering effort; she'll figure it out with a few Google searches.

I'm guessing whomever sold the company on the idea has now gotten their PhD and buggered off and the PhD advisor won't help the company anymore.

Dave, you should save up some money and go and visit them at their facility in Santa Monica, I'm sure they'd love to show the progress they've made!

To be fair, the job descriptions could be for future projects as well as the current projects. So I don't see anything disturbing about the job descriptions. But the fact that ALL their top technical positions are open is really alarming. But not surprising, considering the whole thing was a silly idea from the beginning.

Dave doesn't know about the ISO standard for date formats? That's probably the only thing they did right.

13:44 Perhaps they didn't believe the real world data they were getting and are now hoping to find someone that can supply them with the data they "unrealistically" are looking for...

Responsibilities:

Understand the trade-offs of using one technology vs another.

...like using induction based energy transfer instead of trying to do so with ultrasonic sound pressure.

Even if uBeam was about to design something useful and we're a "serious" startup, why would anyone who'd fulfill these high requirements join them? If I'd have 10 years of experience working in the industry I wouldn't join a freaking startup (considering the usual risks with startups) for the sake of job security.

yyyy-mm-dd is actually the ISO standard (international) date format. The commonly-used format in America is actually mm-dd-yyyy.

It takes a lot of Jim Beam to believe uBeam is sound!

I think your point of view is very good. This video has made me learn a lot!

They have openings? Awesome! I can sell myself out, spend a year telling them what they want to hear, make my cash then split! Heading over now....

Sounds like you tick all of the boxes in terms of experience for the job Dave, I take it you've applied already?
