Parents please chime in with your travel advice about family travel in India!

Here's a summary of my advice:
• Choose comfort and convenience when travelling with kids
• Hire a private driver for tours so you can stop if your little ones need a (bathroom) break
• Plan for rest and play in between sight seeing. That way kids can just be kids and have their play time too
• Choose family home stays to connect with local families. My stay with Immanuel Home Stay in Fort Kochi still is one of my favourite memories of staying with an Indian family
• Book a luxury stay in between, so little ones can frolick in the pool and play areas. My all time favourite @grandhyattkochi has fantastic play areas for kids and their kiddie pools are so much fun!
• Have back up snacks, meals and drinks in case something goes wrong! We don't want hangry babies
• No posing for pictures, especially not your kids!
• Go out early in the day so you avoid the crowds and your family can relax in the afternoon

Personally I'd fly domestic over taking a train with kids. The price would be about the aame, it's just faster. At least now I am not confident in a train journey and hence I can't recommend it, but obviously plenty of Indian families do train journeys with kids.

So whenever I travel alone, I look for cheaper/economic accomodations.

But when travelling with family, I book nicest possible accomodations. Try and avoid hassles when travelling with family.

Rest day is must considering the heat.
Also keep in mind that at public places some people may touch cheeks of babies or toddlers when conversing with you. Generally its considered normal without any bad intention.

Even if on a budget, try and book hotels with 3 star and above ratings, so that you may have a hassle free stay, my opinion

Protect against temprature variation as Neonats below six months do not have hypothalamus developed to adjust with temperature variations.
Simply keep the child in regulated Air conditioned atmosphere or in a room temprature comfertable to us.Avoid exposure to extreme temprature.
